Welcome

Around every corner it may feel like there are things you need to deal with, that you can't keep avoiding and yet don't feel like you can handle on your own. Left alone, these things get really big in your mind and imagination. They may feel so big you can't actually even find words to talk about them. You may feel as haunted by your feelings as you feel afraid of them. Being in therapy is about helping you out of this bind. Together we develop a plan to help you face what you are afraid to feel and help bring language and understanding to these things that feel too big to manage by yourself.

One of the most difficult steps to take in beginning therapy is making the first call or sending the first email to a potential therapist. I hope that in visiting my website today and learning about the services I provide, those first steps are made easier. Finding a therapist that feels like the right fit is important.

It would be my privilege to talk with you about starting therapy. Please feel free to send me a message to setup your first session. I look forward to hearing from you.

All services are being offered via telehealth.

About Jenn

I am a trained psychotherapist and approved supervisor in the state of Washington. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I offer psychotherapy to adults on an individual, couple, and family level who are seeking recovery and healing from psychological and relational problems.

In addition to being a therapist, I also have a background in massage and craniosacral therapy, which means I take a holistic (or whole person-centered) approach to therapy. I believe the intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and relational components of wellness as inter-related and when one part suffers, the whole is affected as well. One primary facet of my therapeutic approach is a relational lens, which you may see emphasized on two distinct levels. First, I will want to understand more about your family-of-origin and relational history. Second, we will together, take the insight and awareness gained from your past and apply it to how it impacts your current struggles in the present. I believe our body holds and remembers our stories of both joy and pain. I do not offer bodywork to my clients, but I will pay attention to and inquire about what you are experiencing in your body in order to help you connect/reconnect your thoughts and feelings in an integrated way.

I receive on-going clinical training and consult regularly with other health care professionals to gain further knowledge and skill on how to better serve my clients. I am passionate about challenging myself to deepen and expand my knowledge as a professional and readily attend continuing education courses, trainings, and seminars. One distinctive component of my training is the emphasis on having the experience of being a client before becoming a therapist-I have greatly benefited from my own personal work and I know what it’s like to be in your shoes.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel our appointment, please contact me at least 24 hours prior to our session. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or do not show up for our session, you will be charged in full for the session.

Your First Visit

The first session is typically a time where you can ask questions about my role as your therapist, discuss what has brought you here, and how I might be of help. Sessions are 50-minutes in length and we will meet together on a weekly basis. Some clients find multiple sessions a week to be very helpful, and I may recommend it depending on the nature of your problem or your own desire for more frequent contact.

Clinical Supervision

My goal is for your supervision to be a rewarding and caring experience that you feel supported by as you earn your hours toward licensure.  It is an interactive process that improves the quality of client care, increases your clinical skills, and nurtures your professional growth and acculturation to the profession.  You can expect to receive timely feedback about your interventions.  You will be expected to be an active participant in the process.  You may be asked to do additional readings, attend certain classes, or participate in additional supervision hours if additional education is needed for you to adequately practice as a therapist.  You may be asked to bring in audio, video or written transcripts of your sessions with clients for us to discuss together.

In our work together, I will draw on my role as a therapist, but it is important for you to know that this is only to help you understand any personal reactions that you may be having that are affecting your work.

I invite you to ask questions, explore alternatives, address ethical and multicultural concerns, and receive feedback and suggestions on your therapeutic interventions.  Your growth as a therapist deserves this kind of thoughtfulness and focus.
